Where? Welti Falls is located in Cullman, Alabama on Brindley Creek. Coordinates are 34.1504 -86.7633. If you copy and paste, these coordinates into maps on your phone this should get you there. My phone sometimes takes a minute to think about it before it marks a location. Once you get close, you will see a pull out on the side of the road where you can park.
Trail Length? It’s less than a mile from the road to the waterfall, but I didn’t clock it to see.
How hard are we talkin’? This trail is relatively easy with flat terrain. There are some spots that can be slippery when wet, but you don’t have to be currently active to hike this trail. It’s great for kids!
Can I swim there? Most definitely! There is an area above the falls that is plenty deep enough to swim. It gets shallow again right before the fall so during a normal flow, there’s no real fear of floating over the edge. I saw people climbing on rocks all over this waterfall, but it’s very slippery no matter the time of year. I also saw people put in tubes and float down the creek. It looks like fun! There is an obvious place to pick up tubers close to where you park your car. There is a bridge you will see when you park. You can walk up the bank on the side of this bridge to get out. I haven’t done it myself, but I noticed this the last time I was there. You could also get out and hop back on the trail at several points during your tube ride.
Any other details? Since it’s close to the road, this place can get crowded quickly. People bring alcohol and smoking is allowed (no signs asking people not to). I can’t remember if there are signs posted at the entrance that say no alcohol, but if there are, there is no one to monitor.
