Where? Talladega National Forest Coordinates are 33.4991 -85.9050 . My iPhone maps says 293-387 Salt Creek Rd. Munford, Al 36268. You park in front of a hill that has a cleared off path with power lines on it. To the left you will see an unmarked, well-worn trail head. Follow the path and stay on it because it is surrounded by private property.
Trail Length? Less than a mile
How hard are we talkin’? It’s not long, but it is very steep. I’ve seen pics of small children at this location, but I don’t know how they climbed down with such small children. It’s a steep, but doable climb to the bottom of the falls. The trail itself, leading up to the falls is very steep as well.
Can I swim here? YES!! This is a great place to swim! I wouldn’t do any cliff jumping though because that water wasn’t deep enough.
Any other details? The trail to this waterfall, as many of the trails in Talladega National Forest, is unmarked. Drive slowly down Salt Creek Road. It’s easy to miss. The first time we went searching for it, we struck out. If you go down a hill and cross a bridge with no trespassing signs on both sides, you’ve gone too far.
Leave no trace: Please don’t leave your trash here. I saw a dirty diaper before I hit the trail. No one manages this area, therefore it’s imperative that you don’t leave trash behind.
