Where? From Hwy 280, take a right onto Cahaba Beach Rd. You can no longer go left since the roads have changed. Travel to the end of Cahaba Beach Rd. and you’re there. 33.4396 -86.6990 will get you there.
You can also access this bridge by traveling Sicard Hollow Rd. and turning onto Cahaba Beach Rd.
What is it? It’s an abandoned bridge at on a dirt road that goes over The Little Cahaba River. There’s a rope swing and it’s usually deep enough to swim. It’s a beautiful spot morning or afternoon. During the late summer, there are a lot of rocks exposed underneath the bridge, and it’s easy to walk around below the bridge, however one side of the bridge stays pretty deep, year round. When I visited in January, water flooded my hip waders when I tried to cross.
Hiking: None that I know of. This area is surrounded by private property and private driveways, but the road this bridge is connected to, is a public road.
Anything else to do here? Swimming, pictures, fishing and you can easily launch your boat here and float downstream and have someone pick you up on Hwy 280 just before the bridge near Grandview, Target Shopping Center, Carrabas, etc.
